Mercari fees 2026: the 10% fee, and the two fees around it

Mercari has restructured its fees twice in about thirteen months — in 2024 it moved costs to buyers, in January 2025 it flipped back. The current shape is simple for sellers: a flat 10%. But two other fees live around that headline, and knowing which side of the sale they fall on keeps your books honest.

The 2026 fee structure

FeeAmountWho pays it
Selling (transaction) fee10% of item price + buyer-paid shippingSeller — comes out of your sale
Buyer protection / payment processing feeCharged on top of the price at checkoutBuyer — does not reduce your payout
Direct-deposit payout fee$2 per withdrawalSeller — when you cash out your balance

Any older guide showing “0% selling fees” or a seller-side processing fee is describing the 2024 experiment, not the current schedule. This is the fastest-moving fee table of the six platforms — check the date on anything you read, including this page.

Worked examples

A $50 sale

Sale price$50.00
Selling fee (10%)−$5.00
Balance after sale$45.00
Payout fee (if withdrawn alone)−$2.00
You receive$43.00

A $200 sale

Sale price$200.00
Selling fee (10%)−$20.00
Balance after sale$180.00
Payout fee (if withdrawn alone)−$2.00
You receive$178.00

Before your item cost. The buyer protection fee never appears here because it is charged to the buyer on top — it raises the buyer’s total, not your costs. The $2 payout fee is per withdrawal, not per sale: batch your cash-outs and it all but disappears.

Why this matters for your books

Mercari is the cautionary tale for every spreadsheet with hardcoded fees: thousands of sellers’ files were still netting out 2024’s fee model months after the flip-back. The Sold Ledger keeps Mercari’s fee in one editable Settings row — when Mercari moves again, you change one number and every future sale is right. The same table ships in the file, stamped with its verification date.

The Sold Ledger applies Mercari’s current 10% automatically — plus verified tables for eBay, Poshmark, Depop, StockX, and Whatnot. $39 once, every year in one file.
